Madhya Pradesh, a state in central India is most famous for its rich architectural history and national reserves. The state also known as Heart of India due to its geographical location in the centre of India. Below are the lists of 5 places that must be visited in Madhya Pradesh.






  1.  Bhojtal, Bhopal

 

Bhojtal, formerly known as Upper Lake or Bada Talaab is located in the western side of the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal.  It is built by Pramara Raja Bhoj during his tenure as King of Malwa (1005-1055). According to folklore, one interesting fact about this lake is that Raja Bhoj built this lake on the suggestion of a saint to cure his skin disease.  A huge statue of Raja Bhoj with his sword is also installed in one side of the lake. The city, also known as City Of Lakes makes Bhojtal as one of the best places to visit in Madhya Pradesh. The lake is surrounded by many other tourists’ attraction which adds up to the beauty of the lake. The lake serves as major source of drinking water to its residents.




 2. Gwalior Fort, Gwalior

 

Rich in History, Gwalior Fort was built by Sakarwar Rajput King named Suraj Sen. Located in the city Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, it is said to be built around 10th century but constant archaeological studies dates it back to early 6th century. The fort has seen many rulers in its history which is what makes Gwalior Fort a sight for eyes and a treat to history buffs. The fort houses several temples, palaces and water tanks built by the rulers over their ruling period. There are two gates, Elephant gate also known as Hathi Gate and the other gate is Badalgarh Gate.





3. Sanchez Stupa, Sanchez

Commissioned by Emperor Ashoka, the Great. Sanchez Stupa was built to preserve the Buddhists Philosophy. Located on a hilltop at Sanchez Town in Raisen District of the State of Madhya Pradesh, Sanchez is tagged as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1989. It is the housing relics of Buddha. Famous for its Great Stupa or Stupa No.1, Sanchez provides an interesting view to Buddhists religion.




4. Panchmarhi

Panchmarhi is a hill station located in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. Widely known as Satpura ki Rani, Panchmarhi serves as heaven for tourists.  It is also famous for Satpura Tiger Reserve and Satpura National Park. It is rich in flora and fauna as well. Many sites of tourists interest here are  Rajat Prapat, Bee fall, Bada Mahadev, Apsara Falls, Dhupgarh, Satpura Tiger Reserve, Chauragarh to name a few. Tourists visit the place throughout year as this place offers visual treat to people. One must definitely visit Panchmarhi when visiting Madhya Pradesh.




5. Sarafa Bazar, Indore
