Madhya Pradesh, a state in central India is most famous for national reserves. The state also known as Heart of India due to its geographical location in the centre of India. Below are the lists of 6 places that must be visited in Madhya Pradesh. 

1) Kanha Tiger Reserve, Mandala and Balaghat

 

Kanha National Park or Kisli National Park spreads over the area of two districts Mandala and Balaghat of Madhya Pradesh State. Another famous national park of the state hosts Bengal Tiger, Sloth Bear, Indian Leopard, Dhole, Barasingha, Blackbuck, wild dogs.

Interesting fact about this Tiger Reserve is that Rudyard Kipling in his book Jungle Book has depicted forests which is based on jungles including this one. The Tiger Reserve is also the first in India , to introduce its own mascot  Bhoorsingh the Barasingha. Rich in Flora and Fauna, this place makes on the list of one of the must visit places in Madhya Pradesh.

2) Van Vihar, Bhopal

Van Vihar is located in the city of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It is the most admired national park and zoo of the country. It is situated next to the Upper Lake of the city. It is a home for Tigers, Leopards, Hyena, Sloth bears. The animals of this park are said to have adopted or are transferred from one zoo to another. Special care is given to the animals and is protected from poachers. One special feature of the park that makes it must-see for tourists is that it promotes cycling. You can take the tour of Van Vihar either on foot or by bicycle.

3) Ken Gharial Sanctuary, Khajuraho

Ken Gharial Sanctuary is the famous tourist spot of Khajuraho. Surrounded by deep gorges, waterfalls and greenery adds to the beauty of the sanctuary. The sanctuary helps in regeneration of Gharial ecosystem. The place attracts huge number of audience as it is also located near Panna National park and the Khajuraho Group of Monuments.

4) Bandhavgarh National Park, Umaria Distrcit

Located in eastern Satpura Hill range of Umaria District of Madhya Pradesh, spread in the area of 1,536 km² (593 sq mi) the national park houses white tigers, leopards and deer. It is one of the best places to visit in Madhya Pradesh as it is most commonly known for its large population of royal Bengal tigers. Bandhavgarh” means (Bandhav = Brother and garh = Fort). According to folklore, the name was acquired as it was given to Lord Lakshmana by Lord Rama to keep an eye on Lanka. The National Park is also the house of 37 species of mammals, there are more than 250 species of birds, around 80 species of butterflies, and a number of reptiles.

5) Satpura Tiger Reserve, Hoshangabad

Madhya Pradesh hosts many National Parks among which Satpura Tiger Reserve is located in the Hoshangabad district of the state. It was established in 1981 and is spread over the area of 524km square. Home to various rare tigers and other species of flora and fauna the reserve also has other attractions, Pandav Caves, Dhoopgarh Peak, Bee Falls to name a few.

It is rich in biodiversity and dense forests, Ravines, narrow gorges, sandstone peaks makes the most of the beauty of the Tiger Reserve. 

 

6) Panchmarhi

 Panchmarhi is a hill station located in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. Widely known as Satpura ki Rani, Panchmarhi serves as heaven for tourists.  It is also famous for Satpura Tiger Reserve and Satpura National Park. It is rich in flora and fauna as well. Many sites of tourists interest here are  Rajat Prapat, Bee fall, Bada Mahadev, Apsara Falls, Dhupgarh, Satpura Tiger Reserve, Chauragarh to name a few. Tourists visit the place throughout year as this place offers visual treat to people. One must definitely visit Panchmarhi when visiting Madhya Pradesh.
