From Stupas to temples to monuments, all these marks are now seen as heritage sites in Madhya Pradesh. 

1. Gwalior Fort, Gwalior
 
Rich in History, Gwalior Fort was built by Sakarwar Rajput King named Suraj Sen. Located in the city Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, it is said to be built around 10th century but constant archaeological studies dates it back to early 6th century. The fort has seen many rulers in its history which is what makes Gwalior Fort a sight for eyes and a treat to history buffs. The fort houses several temples, palaces and water tanks built by the rulers over their ruling period. There are two gates, Elephant gate also known as Hathi Gate and the other gate is Badalgarh.
    

2. Moti Masjid, Bhopal
 
With a striking resemblance to Delhi’s Moti Masjid, this mosque was built in the year 1860. It is also known as Pearl Mosque due to the shinning white façade. Moti Masjid is one of the top places to visit in Madhya Pradesh because of its history. Relatively smaller than other mosques in the city, this mosques hold a significant place in the hearts of the residents as it was built by one of the strongest and progressive Muslim women of that time.

 

 

3. Man Singh Palace, Gwalior
 
Gwalior, one such prominent history rich city also homes Man Singh Place built by Raja ManSingh. An example of amazing Hindu architecture has 2 floors, courtyards, apartments and large rooms. Underground basement floors with circular cells were used as prison. An evening show of sound and light is organized every evening for the tourists.

 

4. Lal Baagh Palace, Indore
 
The palace is situated in the outskirts of the Indore city, MP. Built by Maharaja Shivaji Rao in the year 1186-1921 it is located on the banks of the River Khan. The palace is known for exhibiting the lifestyle of the Maratha Rulers. It also displays a coin collection from the Muslim period. The palace has a huge rose garden which attracts large number of audience. Along with the rose gardens, the main attractions for the tourists are furnished rooms with cravings on the floors and ceilings of the palace, Italian marble columns, Persian carpets, grand chandelier. The entrance gate is said to be imported from London and resembles gates of Buckingham Palace, London.

 

5. Raisen Fort, Raisen

The 8800 year old fort is located in Raisen city of Madhya Pradesh. The fort is famous for its history and is a good place for history buffs. The place also known as Bhopal Fort has a water reservoir, a few palaces and a temple within a fort. The fort has four palaces named Badal Mahal, Rohini Mahal, Itradaan Mahal and Hawa Mahal. The fort houses both a temple and a mosque.

 

6. Orchha Fort,  Orchha
Located in the Orchha, Madhya Pradesh it is the most popular fort in the Orchha.  The fort complex houses ancient monuments like forts, palaces and other temples. The fort is also rich in its construction and is notable for its projected balconies, open flat areas and decorated latticed windows. The fort is a must visit place in Madhya Pradesh, it is also and amazing example of Mughal- influenced Rajput architecture.
